Black People Will Swim’s sole mission is plain and simple: it’s smashing the stereotype that Black people don’t swim. They aim to do this through a number of ways with the use of the acronym F.A.C.E. (Fun, Awareness, Community & Education) - encouraging the Black community to FACE their fears. When Paulana, the CEO & Founder, reached out to me to do the company's logo and website, I was ecstatic to be apart of a project of this magnitude. Soon after I transitioned into the role of Creative Director.
02 - the problem
BPWS needed a captivating website that allowed visitors to book swim classes, join their email list and get educated on the importance of knowing how to swim.
The launch of their website was beyond successful, to say the least! Their audience loved the branding direction on social and the ease of navigation on the website. Within 6 months after launch BPWS caught the eyes of and was featured in Elle, Black Enterprise, Complex, AFROTECH and others. They've also been the grant recipients of the Adidas and iFundWomen campaign and have been featured in the Essence & Pine-Sol Build Your Legacy Competition. In total winning over $200,000 in grants in the first few years in business.
